I got violated for this, do they even read a reported answer?
Here's the question:
Question: After care for cat spay?
Question Details: Hi I had my cat spayed on friday morning. She was a bit drowsy that day and licked her wound a lot, however once she had been to sleep she seemed to have forgotten about it by the time she had woken up. Since then I haven't seen her lick it much really, mostly around the area and she was acting like her normal self just slightly more cautious than normal. The vet called yesterday to check she is okay, I advised everything was fine. Well, when I checked her before I went to bed the wound had a little bit of puss but the wound itself still looks fine, stitches all seem to be intact. Should I be concerned???
The following was her edit AFTER I posted my answer.
I'm aware of that however, I am English living in Holland. Not only do they speak poor english at my vets, it also can take quite some time to get through as the line is normally busy. So, infact it is much quicker this way. I also dont want to battle through a conversation with the vet if a little bit of oozing afterwards is normal. No more smart *** replies please!
And my answer
Deleted Answer: You know, in the time it takes to log in to YA, type the question and wait for answers, you could have called the vet a good 45 times and got yourself an authoritative answer as opposed to a bunch of lunatic insomniacs that are basically clueless. Such as myself.
I admit that maybe it was a little "wise cracky" but where's the offense.

I don't have a problem with the answer you posted, but I can see how other people might.
From the asker's reply I think it wasn't them that reported you.
The problem was that you insulted all the 'answerers'.
You may not have a problem calling yourself a 'lunatic insomniac' or 'clueless' but other people could have been really insulted by that comment.

Unfortunately, your reply, although correct and well-intentioned, did not answer the question.
It was more of an opinion, or judgement of the asker than the answer she was looking for - either "yes" or "no".
If you phrased it a little differently, you could get your point across and still answer the question - for example:
I would suggest that you call your vet. I would be worried if it was my cat.
(which I would! Oozing may not be unusual after surgery, but purulent drainage or pus, is NOT the same)
I am not trying to lecture you at all - it is a pretty fine line.
Hope this helps!

There was no offence unless you count the fact that you made a smart reply that made no attempt to answer the question as asked. That is regarded as point gaming and it is an offence under the YAHOO rules.
Why didn't you just answer the question or take a pass on it?

You didn't answer the question. Hence the violation.
