Can I fry my computer with a mis-installed PSU?
My old PSU recently died because I upgraded several parts without upgrading the power supply. If, by chance, I forget to plug something in, can it harm my computer? Will it fry the computer, or will it just not turn on?
Thanks

it won't turn on at all if the cpu, fans, or harddrive are not powered.
if the other things aren't powered, it's ok. the computer will turn on but will not be damaged.
don't worry about it. follow the instructions in the motherboard manual, and most of the plugs can only fit one way.

If everything isn't plugged in, it's not gonna do anything, except if you forget to power the video card. The computer would boot but you wouldn't see anything on the screen. Been there done that!

Nothing bad will happen if you forget to plug something in. The greater danger is in plugging something in incorrectly. Don't force the plugs; they should go in easily.

as long as you plug in everything correctly you should be good. if you have a high end motherboard, it may ask for a 8pin cpu power cable, which you should be careful and not mix them up with the 8pin graphics card power.

Well to add to this everything only goes in one place so you really can not get it wrong
