To me, the best way is this...

What i did with my puppy is I first tied a bell on a string about at her nose to our front door (the door where we always take her out).

Then, when ever i thought that my puppy had to go to the bathroom, I would ring the bell and say "Potty outside?". Then when we went outside (I had a few small training treats with me) and when she peed i gave her a treat and said "Good potty outside!!" Once we got back in our house, I rang the bell again and said "Good potty outside!" and gave her another treat. I did this for maybe a week or two (but this may be different depending at how old your puppy is) and then she caught on.

Now my dog Cocoa is 3 and when ever she has to go to the bathroom, she just rings the bell. It's a really nice reminder when I'm doing a lot of things around the house and i'm not thinking about my dog because i hear the bell and i know she needs to go to the bathroom.

I have a four month historic Pomeranian (I actually have a two 12 months historic Chihuahua and a two.five 12 months historic Japanese Spitz) and that i began off utilizing the potty pads!! I set them beside my again door so he went there to visit the bathroom. When i noticed him heading over there i could open the again door and allow him out. Now he simply is going and waits on the again door until i open it for him, now not extra potty pads.

Depending on how old your puppy is,when they are young they will need to eliminate after sleeping,so when your pup wakes up from a nap take it straight out-side,then when your pup eliminates you will praise your dog as soon as he/she sterts to do it,tell your pup good boy/girl lots of love.Pups usally need to go outside after eating so as soon as your pup eats take it outside,i would use the same spot as the pup will smell where it has recently gone to the toilet and will do the same and again the istant the pup goes your praise-pat and love.It will not take long for your pup to catch on.Good luck

We bought our dogs a small enough kennel to sleep in a night to where if they did use the bathroom in it it wouldnt leave them much room to lay down so i dont usually have a problem with using the bathroom in the kennel.during the day i take them out first thing in the morning, then i feed them then i wait about 30 mins and take them out again. i take them out on a average of about every two hours or whenever they have eaten or played alot.
