Guns used by US Marshals?
I'm working on a short story in which a man is under the protection of the Witness Protection Program, which is run by the US Marshals. In the story the Marshal reaches down for his gun. What kind of gun does a Marshal usually use?

After doing a little on-line research, there seems to be some confusion about it. As best I can figure out, the Glock-22 (.40 S&W) is the official issue side arm, but there's a longish list of other acceptable guns if a Marshal wants to carry something else.

Colt 1911 sounds cool.
Seriously, marshals and most other LE supply their own sidearm.
There are alot of different styles and variables with just as many personal preferences.
