Global Positioning System+Car+Laws+State of Michigan?
I was pulled over recently for no apparent reason other than my GPS. The police officer proceeded to tell me I wasn't aloud to have it mounted to my windshield right under my rear view mirror. He claimed that it was an obstruction of view violation. I've googled it and have had no such luck figuring out if this is illegal or not. I need any advice or opinions. I think just because I'm a young individual he figured he could get away with pulling me over for whatever he wanted.

if he gave you a ticket, go to court and let the judge decide. he will read you the letter of the law... and most likely find against you. don't know about Michigan, but the law is usually pretty clear on no obstructions attached to your windshield.

Michigan law: There shall be no obstructions in the view of the driver of the vehicle. Nothing can obstruct your forward view of the road. This also includes any decals, (except inspection sticker) broken windshields etc. Try running over a small child on a tricycle and realize you couldn't see them because you had a poor view of the road. I think you will understand.

Legally you aren't supposed to have anything on your window that obstructs your view.
