my ps3 isn't getting internet?
i have a router the router is down the hall in my parents room, the modem connects to the router by ethernet and all three of my computers pick it up but my ps3 and wii will not, when i try to pick it up it picks it up and will get thru all the steps, but at the very last step when it tests connection it says obtaining ip address and across from it it says checking then after 2 minutes it says failed it tells me the signal strength which is usually 85-90% I pick easy and every thing automatically i have comcast as a server o and when i choose custom instead of easy I enter my ip address manually and at the test connection part is says obtaining ip address and across from it it says checking and after like 15 seconds it says succeeded then it checks internet connection and fails and my router is protected by WEP 126 bit i tried taking it off still didn't work so its not that and when i took it off i tried my computer it still worked i know the router works cuz my computer pick it up plz hlp any suggestions?

The previous suggestion about MAC address filtering could be it, but there are some other things (specific to PS3 and comcast) that could be causing problems:
First off, what brand is your router, because they all have unique issues. For example, D-Link routers have a lot of problems assigning I.P.'s to PS3's (don't ask me why-I hate D-Link).
The next thing to figure out is what wireless channel is your router set to? If it is set to Channel 6, I recommend changing it. Although this might force you to re-establish your connects with your other computers etc. it is good to stay off of Channel 6 because almost every wireless device (routers, cellphones, cordless phones, etc.) in the world DEFAULTS to channel 6. This causes tons of interference especially in areas that have lots of wireless internet connections (like apartment buildings). This could be causing your "weak signal strength" issue. I suggest staying away from channels 1 and 11 (the ends of the spectrum) if you can, but if you only have a couple of choices, just avoid 6.
Another thing related to that is that some routers only allow a limited number of wireless devices to connect to them (despite saying otherwise on the box, and having 4 ethernet ports on the back).
Comcast has deliberately engineered their internet setups- specifically the modems-to only allow a single computer/device to connect to them and it will actually pull the MAC address from the first device that is plugged into it upon a fresh reboot of the modem (you can do this by unplugging the power cord from the back for about 30 seconds and then re-plugging in/powering on the modem) although if your router has been working with other stuff, this probably isn't the issue.
Using the Static I.P. connect configuration (Custom) if you do not have all of the other information (Gateway, personal I.P., D.N.S. addresses) then you will not get access to the internet through Comcast. The only way to get that info is by calling up Comcast (and they will not likely know what to tell you because they don't usually do static I.P.s for normal consumers).
One last thing you need to do is make sure you are not actually connected (despite the connection test failing). I would recommend trying to sign-in to Playstation Network after running the connection test just to make sure you aren't getting a false result (or just save your settings and don't run the test at all).
Truth be told after all this, your router signal probably is just too weak for the PS3's wireless system to pick-up (especially if there are several other devices on the same network). Good luck!

There are several possibilities. The most common one is that the router had MAC address filtering turned on. It won't be a password issue as someone else has suggested - if the password is wrong then it informs you of that and asks you to try again.
I would go into the router setup (or get your parents to do it) and enter you PS3's MAC address into the MAC address filter in the security section of the setup. It should work then.

YES It Is Possible to get a Virus on your PS3, But It is A very hard Task to occomplish, Because most virus's Are Made for Widows Operating system, If there's a virus that Is made for the PS3 OS type, then yes It is possible to get that Virus. but I'd Imagine it would be VERY easy to get rid of. Just try to take care of your PS3 They are the best after all.

you have put in the wrong password. That is the only explanation for this. I can't remember if you need the password to get into the router, or the router key.
(to get the router key if you have a linux router, type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, and the username is admin and there is no password)
