How does jesus dying save my soul?

why would god need to send his son to die for me? he's god (supposedly). he cant just forgive me on his own? and what does jesus dying have to do with it? it makes absolutely no sense. and yet so many believe this crap. weird.

Update:

lauren, that makes no sense. what pain? and couldnt god just take that pain away, if there was pain? still makes absolutely no sense at all.

Jesus did not die voluntarily he was a forced into becoming a human sacrifice. According to Matthew 26:36+, he asked his "father" four times that he not be tortured and sacrificed.

The whole of the Christian arguement falls before those four requests for mercy. There was no sin, but the sin arranged by the Hebrew God or the failures of His creations to live up to his expectations--except for the seducer He created to cause the woman Eve to do a thing which she had not been warned against, as had Adam--No cite on last sentence because there is no words of Eve being warned by Adam or the Hebrew God not to eat of the tree of knowledge.

I have to disagree with you on the situation having "no sense at all" as the situation gave the clergy of the Christian church a propaganda whip to get and keep congregations under control of the church. As they still do, as you can read in many of the answers to your question.

Edit: The hypocrisy of Christians is blatant. On some questions they answer they state that their God directs the writers of the Bible. In other questions they answer that the writers of the Bible are Fallible mortals as an excuse.

Wow. Some of these answers really head into some unexplored territory.

Try to remember that the Bible was written by men, who are fallible.

One of the theories I've heard discussed is that although God ostensibly made the rules, he also had to follow them. By declaring that sins must be punished, presumably by death, God was unable to simply forgive the human race when he finally came around to that idea.

Following that theory to it's end, God used a loophole in his own law by sending his son to Earth as a proxy for the human race. A man with no sin dies for the sins of others.

Also, the fact that Jesus died for you doesn't necessarily save you. The verse goes "For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." Therefore, you have to BELIEVE in order for your soul to be saved. If you don't, what does it matter how it works?

Religion is faith. You have to decide what you believe in. If you choose to believe the teachings of Buddha, you'll follow a different path than those who follow the teachings of Christ.

I congratulate you for asking the question. Learn everything you can, then make your own decision.

  • Okay, this is how it goes

God can't look at sin, we are sin, we are sin because we were born in sin and shaped in inequity which means that when a woman has a child, she is sinning because Eve ate the apple in the Garden of Eden which made he able to bear children but we as women aren't supposed to be able to have children because it's basically playing God. If God were to look at us, he would become corrupt(hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.)and who knows what would happen then. Anyway, when we get baptized in the blood of Jesus, God is then able to look at us and when he does, he see's the blood of Jesus and you are then held accountable for every sin you do from then on.(Which is why some people say when they get baptized'' He's washed my Sins away''.)That is why he can't forgive you on his own. Oh and, God came down in the form of Jesus on Earth to show us humans how we should live our life, basically he was an example of how a Christian should live/ act.

Source(s): I hope I helped you dude.Oh and did you know that everyone before Christ's time good or bad went to hell? Even Jesus died and went to hell, while there, he chained up the devil and he took EVERYONE that was in in hell up to heaven with him.Even Moses and a lot of other important people were in hell, but they were in a part of hell were there was no suffering or pain.

The pain of crucifixion... look it up man.

There's also a little thing called RESPECT, for other people, and their beliefs. You should get on that too, because ripping on someone because of their religion, or anything else, for that matter, is CHILDISH.

My sense of it is that he claimed/demonstrated his own unity with a heightened sense of what is eternal and disproved what is temporal. He proved death to be powerless: a mortal illusion. He was a scientist. As far as saving your soul...The right sense of 'soul' needs no saving. People who claim an individual 'soul' are struggling with a false, limited, human sense of a diviner, immortal concept. I myself wonder if and when they will ever advance in their understanding.

What did Jesus shop our souls from? eternal damnation in Hell Why did our souls ought to be saved? because of the fact somebody had to pay the fee for our sin. God is in basic terms no longer interior the presence of sin. He despatched his son to be sacrificed for our sins on our go. and how does Jesus dying shop our souls from something? He died as a sacrifice for our sin. he's the appropriate, sinless sacrifice. Who gave us this deal? Our Heavenly Father Does it in basic terms prepare to those who have been alive for the duration of Jesus' time? No, it applies to all of us. Prayer for you... ;)

    it doesn't change a thing.

You are to make "amends" for your own bad deeds.

You are the only one who can make the choice to do good or bad, so you are the only one to blame for your deeds and the only one who can correct them.
