First, lets get some terminology straight.

A transsexual woman is a woman who was born male bodied. This is a congenital neurological condition. She identifies as female and usually takes steps to transition her body to match her mind.

A crossdresser is a person who for what ever reason, sexual thrills, release of stress, etc., sometimes dresses as the other gender. Most crossdressers are heterosexual males.

Transvestite is an old term for a crossdresser. Many people find the term transvestite to be offensive.

People who claim that they can tell the difference between a male bodied person who is presenting as female and woman who was born with a female body are only fooling themselves. I have met numerous crossdressers who are quite convincing.

On the transsexual side of the spectrum, take a look at these women:

And now the real question, why does it matter?

    Source(s): I am a transwoman.

You can't. There are some obvious ways to tell through anatomical features, but those who display them are more often the exclusion not the rule. For every one transgender person you see, there are 4 you missed. What you really need to work on is why you care what others genitals or any person's genitals look like or what the state of their sex is, or otherwise. You have no right to know what is in another person's pants. However, if you do so in a respectably you can ask a person if they are or aren't but be prepared that no matter how you ask they may still be offended. As I said you have no right to know what another person's genitals look like, nor do you have right to their medical history to verify their gender/sex. There are women who by all accounts are masculine, and men who are feminine but are so for reasons beyond their control or gender identity or expression. Cissexual (non-trangender) men and women have been murdered and assaulted for their basic unaltered appearance offending the gender binary constructed boundaries when they really weren't. Your going to hurt a lot of feelings if you walk around verifying peoples sexes. You should drop such lines of questioning and thoughts and work on your perceptions of people who aren't gender normative rather than wasting your time trying to spot them. Most transgender/transsexual people aren't going to show up on your radar, and you have no right to know anymore that than we do about you. What you need to know: 1. There are many whose gender and sex don't conform to the archetypal male and female gender and sex. 2. These people can't do anything align, reverse or change their non-typical genders or sexes to be like yours (cissexuals). 3. They independently carry the responsibility for that information and have liberty to divulge or conceal as they see fit so long as it doesn't impact another person. (Engaging in intimate relations) 4. These people have the right to be treated as the gender or sex which they identity, without being discriminated or challenged for that gender expression. 5. You should respect these people as they present themselves, and if you are confused as to how to address them then ask them. Making assumptions only makes things worse. (This is as well for you, you have the right to or not to state the condition of your sex, genital, or other medical history relating to anything privileged to you. Personal information is private meaning not for general public consumption without specific need to know.)

    Darling,

Either of those beauties can leave her shoes under my bed.

The answer is you cannot tell a convincing TV from a female when they know what they are doing. We have "give-aways", if you have a good eye: hands, 5o'clock shadow, adam's apple and voice are the main ones. Children are the best detectives; "Mummy, why is that man wearing a dress?"

I have been addressed as "Ma'am" by a young man and was very flattered!

Watch the 80s movie "Tootsie" starring Dustin Hoffman to get the general idea of what a good TV can do.

    Lots of love,

Man, so far I have never had this problem but I've seen them. I don't mind their existence but I don't want one, no thanks. Just check out the links provided. I remember seeing a show that asked if you could differentiate and I got many of them wrong. O.o

I checked because I may be chatting with one atm.

if you cant see an adams apple then check to see if the pointer finger is longer than the ring finger.

women have longer ring fingers than pointer fingers.

men have longer pointer fingers then ring fingers.

    its fact!
