Should I have a farewell party?

Should I have a farewell party?

On last Saturday I said good bye to my first HD (883H) it has been part of the family for the last 7-8yrs. (never had one bit of trouble out of it) I had got her new when I came back home from overseas back in 01. I rode her hard for a few years and then my wife took her over. We were out on a ride this weekend and my wife saw a FAT Boy that she fell in love with so I let her trade the 883 in on it. The Fat Boy was a good deal and it is show ready bike. But I still feel a little bit of loss by giving up the sporty. Should have a hail and farewell Party/Ride to make me feel better?

Or Am I the only one who feels this way about there Bikes?

Update:

the new one is just like this one but with Purple flames and python pipes

The old one looked like this one

Update 2:

Gabby you have no clue about Motorcyclist do you. Most of us will ride or have a party for whatever the reason Groundhog Day, Yon kipper, or even Arbor Day. (Whatever the He11 that is) If it gets us out on the road we will go.

    Of course you should.

    Celebrate for celebration's sake. ;)

By ALL means,... welcome the Fat Boy. The 883 served you well, now its time to let the next owner depend on it. Its natural to "grieve" the loss. Before you know it you will be doting on the FB...giving it all the attention it deserves. No man,...you aren't the only one. My bike is a part of the family: a brother of sorts.

Me and my knucklehead friends look for any excuse to ride; when I get my chest staples out,... its on... (I've already been to the store and back when my girlfriend was away for a couple of hours) It was great.

(Arbor Day is a day dedicated to trees, and the planting of new trees)

I was in college when I had to sell my first bike. We had a nice party and toasted it, then got toasted ourselves.

Go for it. Always a good reason for a fiesta and/or ride (better have the ride before the fiesta!).

i have a little v star 650 that i cant seem to get rid of. even though i have my harley i still love that little nimble v star. it was my first bike. i keep telling myself i'll sell it but it never falls through. i know how it feels. more than likely though that bike will turn into an engagement ring soon enough.

It sounds like a fun thing to do.

    Why not?

Say goodbye to the old one and then welcome the new one.

If a friend invited me to a party like that, I would head right over with a big smile on my face.

Life is all about finding excuses to get out and have fun with friends and family. This sounds like a perfect excuse to me.

    Have fun.

I don't see anything wrong with putting together a ride to say farewell to the 883 and welcome to the Fat Boy.

I had an '02 Blaster and got rid of it after I got my Raptor and I still miss it every once in a while (even though my Raptor will kick it's ***.) but a party may be a little much.

Hell yeah! You're losing an ol trusty friend, but gaining a new member to the family. I sold one of my bikes last year, and I still think about it.

So are you furnishing all the alcohol or is it BYOB, and what time do you want us to come over. lol

You will always miss your first bike, but a party may be a bit much. Just hang a photo of the ol gal on the wall or on your desk.

How about having a welcoming party for the Fatboy?
