The Navy (and military) act in spite of the POTUS, not because of him?
I recently asked a question regarding the safe return of the ship's captain who was being held hostage by those pirates off of Somalia's coast, and this was one answer I received, word for word.
"The Navy (and military) act in spite of the POTUS, not because of him."
It seems that Cons absolutely refuse to give Obama any credit whatsoever, even though he is the one who issued the orders to the Navy to take out the pirates if the captain's life was in jeopardy.
Is that how Cons really feel?
Does the military really not have to listen to the President?

The desperation of the American right knows no boundaries it seems. This kind of spin and disconnect from reality is not even funny anymore. Those are the words of people in panic not thinking rationally. I mean that line "The Navy (and military) act in spite of the POTUS, not because of him." is that absurd the only people it can possibly convince those who already agree with the speaker/ writers opinion to begin with, no one else. On the contrary it will remind most ordinary Americans why they rejected the Republican party. Yet the maker of that statement probably thinks he's somehow defending his party

No -- you are wrong --- I have been a registered conservative for 40 years and although I abhor most of what Obama has done to America ( icluding the closing of gitmo ).....I DO give Obama credit for ordering the simultaneous sniper shots in order to take out the Pirates just as I suggested that Obama do 4 days ago.
This one incident does NOT however change my belief that our entire Nation is a great deal less safe and secure under Obama but I do give Obama creidt for rescuing 1 Captain, killing 3 Pirates & capturing 1 Pirate.

That would eliminate about half of our presidents including the GOP's beloved Ronald Reagan or does being in the military and making movies count as being in the military

True but I doubt the President is micromanaging every military operation. Like most people in positions of great responsibility you turn these kids of situations over to the professionals and let them handle it.

As I recall reading, Obama authorized taking the pirates 2 times...
I don't like Obama, but there was no way he was going to become the next Jimmy Carter

Conservatives have learned from the liberals, who despite tons and tons of proof can not even give credit to President Bush for the millions of lives he saved through the PEPFAR program.
Reap what you sow. Do not whine about it I am only doing what the liberals have done the last 8 years.
Besides, we all know that it is TOTUS that makes all the calls at the White House these days.

They seem to forget that he is The Commander and Chief of United States of America.
Just because you dislike him or disagree with him does not change this fact.

You really have to just mentally dismiss those people. They are not going to give President Obama credit for anything.
They are a small and insignificant and impotent percentage of the population.

His answer was just dumb and he obviously has not served. Any president would have made the same decision Obama made...it was the only choice.

It took four days to resolve a situation that should have been resolved in a few hours. He wanted to negotiate- you do not negotiate with these idiots nor do you ever pay a ransom. Had not been for trying to negotiate the captain would have been rescued in one day instead of four.
