    Hi,

May I just say, great choice! Malta is a lovely country and you most certainly will enjoy it.

Now, did you particularly want to stay in Valletta? Because Malta is quite small you could stay pretty much anywhere and still be within 20 minutes driving.

And how much did you want to spend? Malta is quite cheap compared to many other Med. destinations, but some hotels are still expensive.

OK, how about this, i'll give you 4 suggestions:

If you want to stay in Valletta and want a plush hotel i'd suggest the Hotel Phoenicia - This Valletta hotel in the capital city is within 2 km of St. John's Cathedral, Manoel Theatre, Grand Master’s Palace, and other historical sites. It also has fantastic restaurants nearby.

If you aren't limited to Valletta then I must suggest you stay in the Westin Dragonara, in Paceville - Luxury family hotel with onsite casino

situated on a private peninsula in St Julian’s, this luxury hotel is next to the sea with two private beach lidos; Valletta is eight kilometres from the resort.

If you want to stay in a cheap and cheerful hotel in Valletta then go for the Osborne - Central Valletta hotel near Grandmaster’s Palace, set in the centre of Valletta, this hotel is housed in a traditional property with a stuccoed façade and is located 600 metres from the historic Grandmaster’s palace.

If you want a nice hotel outside Valletta then go for this, the Hotel Juliani - Boutique St Julian's hotel opposite Spinola Bay, this stylish boutique hotel is set in a converted St Julian’s townhouse; Spinola Bay is across the street, and the vibrant, lively Paceville district is very close too. This hotel always gets good reviews.

    Hope i've helped.

i am from Malta and totally agree with the previous reply.

i wouldn't particularly suggest staying in Valletta

Malta is a small island and all the touristic sites can be well reached by bus.

i suggest staying somewhere near the st. Julians area.

take a look at these hotels

this is one of my favorite hotels

it is surrounded by one of the most spectacular beaches i have ever seen in the med.
