The United States Federal Government should allow all types of stem cell research?

the us government has always allowed all types of stem cell research. they did stop paying for the embryonic stem cell research under bush's presidency due to moral objections of some people. however the research continued and the use of non embryonic stem cells has so far been more productive research.

Stem cell has been so amazing and has helped out so very much. I know that having loved ones with MS and me being told that I have lupis makes me scared and I know that stem cell research is getting close to cures of that type of diseases. Now I'm caught in the middle here. I think that if there are abortions that they should use them because at least the mothers that didn't think that they could make a good enough inpact in theirs or other lives why not have them be used in this amazing discovery, but I don't want women to start having more abortions because of it or to start a huge issue with pay under the table for abortions and so on. I think you see where I'm going with that. It's like the organ thing where people were trying to steal and buy organs. But I also know that they can do stem cell research off your own body as well. That I'm totally fine with and if people want to be part of the research so be it. I actually think we should be using prisoners that have life sentences and murders for scientific research but that's a whole different topic!!! ;)

But just look at what science has done today. They can make clones of animals! That's insane! Also I watched a t.v. show where they were making different limbs and organs in a lab that were of the person's own dna make up and everything so they can make hearts that are a match with in days andthey can make limbs that will grow back it's crazy! Just think of all the good that can come from stem cell and it's not just limited to unborn babies anymore.

If your not a geneticist I don't really think you can fully understand the harms of genetic manipulation unless you look up the research and check the statistics of it, which I am not going to do for you.

You cannot quantify an essentially moral and religious issue so easily. Its' a question not unlike abortion of when life actually begins and what moral values it may have in spite of the scientific consequences and benefits.
