1/1500 sec shutter what does this mean?

How many seconds does the shutter exactly stay open for? This is a Fuji Film S3100 digital camera that I am looking at. Thanks.

the stutter will be open for 1/1500 of a second this is a very fast shutter speed to us great for sports and other things moving fast but at a that quick exposure unless its really sunny youll have to crank up the iso which will increase noise in the picture

It means the shutter will open, then close, all within 0.0006 seconds.
