is it posible to break a diamond with a hammer?

if you have a diamond on the concrete floor can you break it with a hammer

    Yes, but you have to hit it very accurately on a fracture line.

    Diamonds are carved with a smaller, sharp diamond, along a fracture line. A blunt steel blade is placed in the scratch, and the blade is tapped. Due to the local weakness, the diamond will either split apart, or fall apart in splinters.

    So yes, it is possible to break a diamond through force, but highly unlikely.

    3 hits to break a diamond? to crack in in a million/2? in all threat something else there. as properly if I had a blue diamond, i does not enable every person with a hammer close to it one stable break might desire to shatter it right into a million products diamonds break extremely alongside 4 planes of cleavage

    yes. Diamonds are hard, but very brittle.

    Have you never seen video of how diamond are 'cut"? the jeweler uses a chisel and a SMALL hammer to break the diamond.

    Why would u want to. Any thing that is harden even steal can break easy if put under the right stress.

    i dont really think so

    diamonds are the hardest thing on the Mohs hardest scale.

    Yes: they are extremely hard but also brittle
