I would definitely think that water polo is not a good option. If you cant do swim team you cant really do water polo. In water polo you swim back and forth and you have to sprint. If you cant swim well enough to be on swim team water polo is not for you. Water polo is definitely not volleyball. You can never touch the bottom and there is not net just a cage or goal. I think water polo would not work. Keep looking though.

I've heard that water polo is much harder than other water sports because you are constantly treading water and need to be able to jump up out of the water to catch and pass without pushing off the bottom. I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't recommend joining a competitive team if you get tired out by running or swimming laps.

What about diving or synchronized swimming?

no way. water polo is extremely tiring, well depends. If you play competetive than it is, but if you play a little bit just like recreational than it's not bad. When you play competetive you have to swim laps, and practice swimming and scrimmages with people on top of you, it's not just being in water, lol sorry but that's kinda insulting. It's actually really tough being climbed on while you're in the water. You'll have to tread water for long periods of time, with your hands out, and be sprinting back and forth across the pool.

but if you're not doing it competetive, than I wouldn't worry about it being too difficult. People who are new obviously won't just join a big competetive team, and you'll get use to it. It's really fun you should try. Water polo is like soccer, swimming, & wrestling mixed together

water polo takes a lot of strength. I have to work out every day and swim at least 3000 yards a day. Dont do it unless you have the strength and endurance. You swim 3 miles per water polo game.

i don't think so since you have to tread water for a very very long time and swim hard out for a long time. Water polo is a very violent sport. you can do whatever you put your mind to. go for your dreams

  • 1 decade ago

Yes as long as you can tread in water, but you might need to "run" across the pool floor, but it's not really running so you should be OK

You'll have to be able to tread in water for a long time.

if you can do that, then good luck :)
