Why does Yahoo keep suggesting nail polish questions for me?
The last recommendation that appeared makes three different questions asking how to get nail polish out of clothing or off of something as questions suggested for me in the past two days.
I answer questions primarily under R&S, Passover, Pets, Biology Israel travel, Culture and Groups, Current Events, Politics, Polls and Surveys, and even Jokes but I've never answered a question about nail polish.
Are any of you getting very strange recommendations?
maybe I got sent laundry and cleaning questions since I talked once about cleaning for Passover???
OH NO..now that I HAVE mentioned nail polish..in this q..I bet more suggestions will be coming! LOL
In the 980 Best Answers, I've never answered a question about nail polish. In my 2453 questions answered, I've never answered a question about nail polish. I started to wonder if I'd ever used the words nail or polish in an answer. THEN I realized, there is an answer that has been chosen as best (more often than) but also voted as best well over a dozen times to the often asked questions about Jewish identity. It is a long answer, and in it, I explain about various Jewish cultures and ethnicities, the Mizrahi, Beta Yisrael, Sephardic and Ashkenazi, and I explain that Ashkenazi Jewis refers to Jews of German, Polish, Russian and other Eastern European ancestries.
THAT's where the word polish comes from in my posts! Ah ha! I was talking about people from Poland and Yahoo thinks I'm talking nail polish!
Oy gevalt.
At least I'm getting this figured out a little. And I'm sure curious what they've recommended for Filida!

I keep getting ridiculous suggestions too- ala "is this child abuse" (people who smack their kids) and "am I pretty/ fat/ pregnant" types- perhaps yahoo thinks we need to expand our horizons? I should beat my kids (while telling them they're pretty, of course) while you polish your nails?
I think it TRIES to work somewhat like the adverts on google- using keywords. But...
it's not working too well.
Perhaps some word you've used regularly cross-indexes to something in NP or NPR. Or, perhaps they are just idiots.

To be honest, I've never, ever looked at the recommendations. I just go to the categories I like and have some knowledge in, and look over the questions. Sometimes, when people don't put their full question in that space where it's supposed to go (and so many people do that), the auto system can see keys words that may cause it to pick strange categories. I would suggest you ignore the recommendations anyway, and just stick to the categories you enjoy, looking over the lists of open questions.

Weird it may just be that some nail polish question happen to be in those categories or maybe they think that you would be answering question of that sort. It has not happened to me much although I do get from time to time odd questions since I am a top contributor in yahoo answers and that is a default some times for people.

I feel your pain. For some reason, I honestly don't know why, Yahoo! thinks that I am some sort of expert on yeast infections! I mostly answer questions about R&S and Current Events, soooo, I don't know what that's all about.
I wish I could get rid of that feature.

Avocados & chocolate are very toxic. Look up any bird site on the web & they will have a list of these things. You can get pellets from feed stores and good pet stores. My conures eat & drink what I do in addition to fresh veggies & fruit. In all of my perches ( 7 cages) I buy doweling from the lumber yard & cut the correct length. You will need extra pieces all the time because they love to chew on them. Apple branches are also good for perches and it gives them a treat at the same time. Some of my conures (not caged) sleep in a cat cube, but the rest of them sleep on their perches or in their happy huts. They like happy huts to get into during the day to hide & play. Good luck with your new friend!

I am glad you found your answer but I have been having similar problems. They are giving me questions about dogs when I don't own a dog, nor have i ever, and I don't particularly want one. They also gave me a number of questions about complex computer problems which I have no idea how to solve other than to say "Google it!" Yahoo Answers seems to think these questions relate to us but they really don't!

It keeps asking me about eggs, and Pluto.
I answered one question on which came first, chicken/egg, and said whether pluto was still a planet.
It's like it only looks at 2 questions, and then assumes that;s your especiality.
It's sooo annoying.

Maybe the yahoo gods have looked over your Q & A and have concluded that you are a bimbo.
Sorry, I have no clue.
