Can anyone make a suggestion?

I have decided on a new course for my life, and that is reading more non-fiction(ish) books. So I am looking to make a list of books that include history, biography, humanities...well, really anything that is both entertaining and informative. Do you have any suggestions for this list?

history/biography,humanities: Try T.E. Lawrence, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom which was written by the famous "Lawrence of Arabia" and chronicles his time in Arabia as a sometimes agent of the British government. It was fascinatiing.

I read a mixture of fiction and non fiction. Sometimes you can spend lots of money on books and not really enjoy them. These days I tend to buy my books from either the charity shop or the boot sale.

My suggestion is that the subject must interest you, or at least the person that you are reading about. Another good way is to look on Amazon and read the reviews about the book, this gives you a better idea.

I loved the book 'The Book Seller of Kabul', most of my Friends found it boring. At the time my son was in Afghanistan so it was of particular interest to me. No two people are alike, you need to choose your subject and go with your interests.

Sometimes when reading a historic novel which has been well researched it gives you the interest and therefore the next link to the non fiction book you would like to read. I find this so when I read Wilbur Smith. I always want to know more about the actual history of the period. It is a good starting point.

I hope this helps you with your future reading.

Everybody Poops. I assure you, it's no fairy tale.
