There were alot of Hair Bands in the 80's but only a few had substance,

Whitesnake - Dokken - Vandenberg (late 70s-80s) - some Crue. There was a buttload of good music in the 80's but it does not fall into Hair Metal by real standards, yes they had hair, but they did not abuse Aqua Net! Krokus - Twisted Sister - Dio - Van Halen - Accept -

Fates Warning - Hammerfall - Fastway - Autograph - etc..........
