can you get your IELTS results after 4 years?
i sat for IELTS on May 2005, i lost the results, now i have no proof of how much did i score, so can anyone help getting me a proof? or do you think taking another exam is better?

No - you can't get them.
IELTS results are only valid for two years. You'll have to take the test again.

Alternatively, you might want to look at taking the CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) test instead, as the results are valid for your lifetime, and it is also acceptable at many universities.

Yes, taking another exam's better. Plus, it's been four years so you're probably score higher now. You could either repeat the IELTS (and make sure not to lose the results, or do it again in 2011 if you need it), or take a Cambridge certificate. Roughly, conversion's as follows:
IELTS 7.5 - 9.0: CPE
IELTS 6.5 - 7.0: CAE
IELTS 5.5 - 6.0: FCE
IELTS 4.0 - 5.0: PET
IELTS 3.0 - 3.5: KET
Plus, Cambridge exams are cheaper ;)
