My dog is having wheezing fits?
For a few weeks now, my 9 year old Jack Russell has been getting these fits that last a few seconds where he wheezes pretty intensely. The last couple days, this has been more common and a little more intense. I don't know whether we should take him to the vet or if it's just allergies and it will pass, but he never used to do this before now. Any educated suggestions?
Thank you very much.

Have him checked out. It could be the start of heart failure. My dog did the same thing for a few weeks, then started "coughing" which sounded like a goose honking. It was heart failure. Best of luck to you and your dog.

My little boy was only six and he also suffered wheezing fits?
Dose he get them when he is excited?
Susha use to get them when he was going for a walk or excited!
I do not want to worry you but I would have them checked out!
At the tender age of 6 years 1 month on the 23rd of Feb I took Susha to the vets to have his teeth cleaned. Now, that morning he had a wheezing fit and he was just sitting under the bed. I thought nothing of it and settled him down as I normally did by saying "it's ok". But that same day was the day he passed away. His little heart gave out ( the Anesthetic he was given was only 20% of the normal dose before his little heart gave out) As I said PLEASE do not panic!
But this makes me think it may have some thing to do with his heart and knowing what I know now, I would have it checked out.
Please do not panic, I would just rather be safe than sorry.
Let me know how you go.

it's probably a siezure, take him to a vet to verify. Lot's of dogs get siezures and their symptons vary.
Also some areas of the country have these frogs that dogs grab and chew on that have a mucus that gives them that fit. Check with the local vet. I know it is expensive, but if you love the dog go to a vet.
Also a good vet will put you on a payment plan.

I have a jack russell and sometimes when he gets in certain positions he wheezes.. i wonder if it is normal or whether there is something wrong with both our dogs.

Take him to the vets, could be fluid on the lungs, could be asthma, could be anything, if it was my dog i would go to the vets, especially as he is getting older.
