Messenger stopped working...is it because of something called ym player?

For the last few days, every time I sign onto messenger, it prompts me to download or install (not sure which) something called ym player or yim player. According to the pop up, it was a possible security risk, so I kept cancelling it. Well, all of a sudden, my messenger started prompting me to update messenger. I use 8.1 and don't want to update to 9. So I kept stopping the update.

Now, today, messenger won't work at all.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Will I need to reinstall messenger 8.1?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

    UPGRADE TIME AGAIN- (LOL)

You can still keep Yahoo messenger 9.

Were you listening to Yahoo Music Player?

There have been a lot of FAKE or SPAM messages being circulated lately..

The Prompt to update Yahoo Messenger is Real. There is a new version and all you need to do is go to

http://messenger.yahoo.com/ or accept the update. But I rather just go to the site and download.

Just reboot your computer after the update.

    If you want to Check

HINT: Anytime you want to know if the messages are real as far as update - Go to the BLOG. I know the information that I do because I read that there is now a new version - OK
