We will be in Paris next April for a few days. Which district is best to stay in?
We will be visiting the usual tourist attractions, such as Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe etc. We were thinking of the 8th or 7th district.

The 7th and 8th arrondissements are very nice but they are some of the richest, so accommodation could be quite expensive. Also, they're very close to the main tourist destinations (Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysées) so can get quite busy.
I like the 3rd and 4th arrondissements, and the 5th and 6th. They're all central and it's still easy to get to the tourist attractions because of the métro. The 5th and 6th arrondissements are on the left bank - 'rive gauche', which is famously arty and a little bohemian and the 3rd and 4th contain the medieval district of 'Le Marais', which is quite lively and charming.
Avoid the 1st arrondissement as it is busy and expensive, and the areas around the main train stations are not so nice, but other than that, there are many lovely areas to stay in Paris, the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th are just my favourites.
Hope you have a great time!

I am not from Paris, but i am leaving this Thursday!! All i can tell you is the 7th and 8th arr are far away from all the tourist sites. Im staying in the 6th and even that is kinda far. But there is always, buses, trains and taxi cabs. Have fun!!!

I like staying somewhere near the Gar du Nord. It isn't far for me to get to the hotel then when I get off the train. I've stopped near the Moulin Rouge before and I enjoyed that too. It was an education ;-)
