Caribbean All-inclusive suggestions?
My fiance and I are planning a destination wedding for Feb 2010. We're having the HARDEST time finding a good AI (all-inclusive). We went to Costa Rica back in August and LOVED the resort (Paradisus Playa Conchal) but think it's too expensive for most guests. Can anybody recommend a nice AI in the Caribbean? A couple of the things that we really liked about the Paradisus that we don't want to settle on is that they didn't charge for the in-room safe and dining at the a la carte restaurants was unlimited (could go every single night, not just 3 times a week or something). We'd certainly like to keep it under $1500/week/person. There will be at least one teenager coming so it can't be an adult only resort (but I don't want costumed characters running around my wedding either). The RIU chain has been suggested, we've also looked into the Gran Bahia, Breezes, Beaches. I would like to hear first hand experiences or new suggestions though. Thanks for any help!
Oops, forgot to say that Mexico isn't an option!

I wonder if you've looked at Barbados, the easternmost island in the Caribbean.
If you're from U.S., I can recommend Apple Vacations - you can do a complete package.
Here's the link direct to Barbados vacations with them:

You can also consider Almond Resorts

I would like to start by saying Congratulations on your Engagement!! Destination weddings have increased in popularity quite a bit even over the last 5 years!
The use the RIU properties quite often especially for families, and even though they are family friendly they don't have the costumed characters running around like you see at the Beaches properties. In fact I have yet to have a complaint from a RIU property, but this does depend on which one because there are a few that I would maybe steer away from. There are other possibilities, however without speaking with you it can be difficult to really give an answer as to what I feel might be best?
There really are several possibilities in the Caribbean to consider, so I would highly recommend working with a good travel specialist who will then ask you various questions to help determine the place they feel will be best for you. Recommendations are always good, however because everyone travels differently what is best for one isn't always best for you.
Feel free to contact me though if you like and I would be happy to help you with the planning of your destination wedding in fact I am a destination wedding/honeymoon specialist. In fact I am currently working with a wedding group of about 25 to Jamaica in April 2010.
Even if not through me, may I recommend to definitely go through a travel agent? Travel agents are like any job profession there are the good, bad & ugly! So once you find one it is always a good idea to stick with them. I learned a long time ago to be honest no matter what the honesty was regarding. Instead of some agents who always agree to make the "sale go quicker". I always do my best to ask enough questions to arrange the trip or honeymoon I feel will best suit you!
Typically my answers are a bit more involved, however I saw your question wanted to answer but I have to run out the door for an appointment! So again, if you would like to contact me then I could ask a few questions and have a better idea of where might be an ideal location for your wedding.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya are on the Caribbean Sea, and the Bookit website has some good deals going on now. Some have flight credits to lower your plane ticket expense and some have kids stay free. Plug in your dates and see what turns up.
