Is this kind of thing going to be the Republican focus for the next 8 years? Whether Obama shakes hands with..?
...This leader or that leader? Are all Republican attacks on the President going to be that trite and insubstantial?
"It's unlikely as a consequence of me shaking hands or having a polite conversation with Mr Chavez that we are endangering the strategic interest of the United States," the US President told reporters at the close of the Summit of the Americas.
He stressed he still had concerns about Venezuela.
"I have great differences with Hugo Chavez on matters of economic policy and matters of foreign policy," Mr Obama said."
"But Republican politicians said Mr Obama's handling of the meeting confirmed concerns that the Democratic President would not be tough enough on adversaries of the US.
"I think it was irresponsible for the President to be seen kind of laughing and joking with Hugo Chavez," Republican senator John Ensign said."
You got it, Michael.

Their messiah, Ronald Reagan, sent Donald Rumsfeld to shake hands with Saddam Hussein in 1983, and not a peep from them.
Now, when President Obama runs for re-election in 2012, and he shakes the hand of the Republican nominee at the debates, THAT will be shaking the hand of a true enemy of America. Fortunately, he will defeat that enemy of America as well, and then you right-wingers will be foaming at the mouth for another four years as our President continues bringing America back to glory.

It can be summed up in one statement..Obama is getting OJT in the nuances of statecraft and diplomacy. All of them have fouled it up at one time or another to varying degrees.
I see the constant regurgitation by the left and right of bs talking points.
Those who love to have reality condensed into either black or white, hot or cold, have trouble with the reality being lukewarm and gray.
Rest assured that is reality and both sides will get their iddy biddy idealist feelings hurt throughout this administration.

Obama shows weakness every where he goes. We are heading back to the Jimmy Carter days. Its hard for me to think of all the people who have turned there back on the way of life we have fought to have, and the many vets who have died to give us that freedom. I am sure there are many fathers who have served to give there children the way of life they live feel they have been shamed. We are a Split country, it won't go down easy as a socialist country.

yup. they're a political party of absolutes (similar to the sith's...hmmm). they'll never tell you that one of their own was wrong, and if they disagree with another countries values or politics, they'll hate them for it. all they have are these miniature arguments that will only get them so far, until the next one comes around. sad little creature's aren't they.....

Opposition to whatever the 'democrats' are doing. Remember, the 2 parties goal is to absorb all opposition to both parties.
When republicans were spying, torturing, spending and going to war, the democrats opposed it. Now that the democrats are doing the same, the coin has flipped.
Same government expansion over the people, same method of absorbing the opposition to the corrupt 2 party system.
Freedom & Liberty vs Democrats & Republicans, not democrats vs republicans.

Things like who Obama shakes hands with will always be part of the focus but Republicans hope that has time goes by in the Obama administration that they will get something more substantive to work with.
Considering that no President can remain perfect with all the decisions he has to make they will of course get ammunition to use against Obama. But it will be interesting to see if it's enough to create any widespread political opposition against him.

Hell, it's just validating the destruction of democracy in another country.. why should Obama care?
And yes, for the next FOUR years.. you can expect Obama to be called out on his stupid decisions.

I hope so, because they're dooming their party to failure. Nice job weirding out the independent vote, guys. Keep it up.

While I think this is a ridiculous thing to discuss, I don't think it's any worse than Democrats discussing Bush choking on a pretzel, or news stories about presidential pets. All of these stories can be filed in the "Who cares" category.

tl;dr
Shaking hands with a communist should be frowned upon no matter which political party you belong to.
Shaking hands with Chavez, and Castro wanting Obama to succeed is pretty much a living nightmare, seeing as how spreading the wealth is how Cuba got to the state that it is in now.
