How do you deter spiders from crawling into your bed?
Spiders don't freak me out or anything, I am a firm believer in live and let live, but I just moved into an older house and notice every morning when I get up I have a couple new spider bites (and yes I know what spider bites look like). Is there anything that's NOT a pesticide that I can spray on my covers and mattress that would deter a spider from crawling into my bed?

If Spiders are crawling into your bed then that means there is food suitable for them to eat in your bedroom. You need to get every square inch vacuumed and cleaned. If you have wood floors or anything wood in your bedroom then hit it with some pledge. It is probably dust attracting them...There are a lot of smaller bugs in the filth that spiders find a tasty snack. Clean up and in a week it should be better.

I totally agree with the other 2 guys. I saw a show once on HGTV and the exterminator said that if you remove the food source they will go. These people had black widows or brown recluse (don't remember which) but the guy said that if you take down the web they will probably die before they get to build another one.... so yeah... clean, clean and when your all done, clean it again! strip your bed completely incuding dust ruffle and all, wipe down the frame, disinfect the porous material (mattresses) change sheets, vacuum the sh*t outta every sq in of that room! check the curtains, sill, corners near ceiling...everywhere! I HATE spiders too & so does my husband. He will kill them for me if in the event that I ever saw one, but he hates them as much as I ! They are just creepy!!! I dont' care if they bite or not! I wouldn't want them crawling on me either! especially while I sleep! I can tell you something though, I think that our faces loose circulation while we sleep on our side and then when we move the blood comes back and it feels exactly like something crawled! If you live near me, I can come to clean for you, that's what I do for a living... I'm the cleaning lady. TheCleaningLady@tampabay.rr.com Good luck!
Oh! and if it were me, I'd try spraying 100% Eucalyptus oil everywhere.. but that's just me

aside the fact Dr Lipton is correct,,here are a couple surprises.
spiders don't bite people in their sleep. they just don't.
no one, not even doctors can distinguish a spider bite
from a host of other insect bites. there are even a number
of skin conditions, rashes, and infections that are mistaken
for spider bites.
if you didn't see a spider bite you,it probably wasn't.
the above information is in a paper written by Dr. R. Vetter,
University of California Riverside.
I would suspect bedbugs, crickets, mites, ticks, mosquitoes, and some beetles, that are prone to bite people while sleeping.
