A good wide-angle lens primarily for architecture?

I'll be going to NYC in a month, and I'm looking for a good wide0angle lens suited mainly for architecture. Hopefully on the more inexpensive side, but we all know there is no such thing as inexpensive in photography. haha.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Update:

Sorry, I have a Nikon D40

    "primarily for architecture"

There is only one that I know of:

It will be moderate wide on your D40.

The Nikon 12-24mm is your lens if money isn't an issue. At $900, however, it might be.

The Tokina 12-24mm is just $400, and both Sigma and Tamron have lenses that sit between these two in terms of price and image quality.

If you can spare the time - and if you're a camera buff - swing by B&H on 420 9th Ave. to test the various options. That store is every photographer's wet dream (and they might have a nice deal on a used Nikon 12-24mm).

J&R is another huge camera store in Manhattan: http://www.jr.com/category/cameras-and-optics/

They affectionately refer to B&H as Beards & Hats ;-)

And if there's a risk of having time left to actually take pictures, you could always pop by Adorama: http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=adorama_insi...

Just, whatever you do, don't buy camera gear from any of the "discount" electronics stores on Broadway.

Tokina has some great wides. 11-16 and 12-24. The build and lens quality are amazing for the price. Nice and fast 2.8

Not too many outlets stock them but you can always order online

It would help if you said what camera you have.
