How do I check if water is charge balanced?

I have a list of elements, and a list of their concentrations in ppm.

Is it just the cations=anions or do I need to use their concentrations? Should I convert ppm to something else?

I have no examples to look at and when I google it, I just get abstracts.

Can anyone help?

A concentration is just a quantitative measure of species that is present; it does not represent the overall charge of the species.

H20 is always neutral (+2 for 2x H and -2 for 1xO). A cationic or anionic species is always given from the combined overall charge of the elements in the species for which there are established lists.
