I don't mean to sound like an a$$, yet, are you sure everything is plugged in the right places?

Make sure they are plugged into the right places. If you using USB try to restart the computer with the items already plugged in to the cpu if u don't do that already?

plug out the USB & Plug it back. It might not work because you didn't plug it in the right slot. Plug it in the Mouse logo. It might not go in there. Go to wal-mart, target, or ebay and buy something that your mouse might plug in and connect to its. Keyboard> plug it back in or get help. Or it might have been used and broked

are you using usb or the ports? i dont know how easy this would be but if you could get a mouse connected to the mouse port it would tell you if the problem was the usb ports themselves, or try connecting something else and see if it works on the same usb.
