I have spent the last 3 months conducting research and testing for an online consumer review site (www.CompleteReviews.net). That information was then used by them to rank the top available sites in categories such as criminal records checks, background checks and more. What I can tell you is that, in all that time, I found many sites that advertised a free background check but in the end they all charged you for the actual information. I confronted one about that advertising tactic and they said that what they meant is that the search is free.. not the results. LAME!
