Why are there so many "Can I import a Skyline GT-R" posts?
Do people actually not read or research? The information is out there for all to see. There are several good articles in magazines, and one good one at www.nicoclub.com.
Seriously people, do some research. The info is out there, you just need to look for it.
By the way. I'll give 10 free points to whoever can convince me to give to them.

I personally can understand the situation people are in as the rules on importing a skyline to the US and not set in stone, the R33 spec 2 has crash data from Motorex and so can be imported but other loopholes, have opened and people are seeing skylines appear on the street,so they are going to ask,ok there are site with info like nico butit gives facts on what the rules on importing this car are,but again there are loopholes,so i guess people are looking for those.
As for the cars, myself have been a fan before any game infact the playstation was not even about, and as for movies the skyline has bee in movies way before the faf films look at speedway freeway for one which features the r31 and r32 back in the late eighties.
Most young people are seeing these cars in modern films so not making the car iconic just people seeing how iconic this car is.
OK it is not the best car in the World but buying a skyline is not what it does but what it can do GTR version are a supercar in a cheap form, even if the GTR cost a lot it is still below exotic car cost and offers an exotic car beater, and to be fair i have been to cars shows where i have seen the ex otic stand empty and a mass around a skyline demo car.
The skyline is an headturner i have owned a mass of imports and driven my friends imports and as cars i am on my second and third soon that is because,i get a smile everytime i drive one,it feels and handles like a great car, just the general car feels great all round.
So why not own a supercar for little money with a great tunable engine, the sr20 area mentioned the sr20 is a really good engine and one of my favs but on the same level as the rb20 area, the rb25 rb26 can take higher figures and its how it takes that power.

The truth of the matter is, most of the people who want GT-R's want them for the fact that they're considered by many to be the ultimate Japanese supercar. They're in movies, they're bragged about, they're throwed around like dice in an alley, and to be frank... the car itself is very very good (I own one) and it's truly not worthy of the rape it's received.
So many people love it now, that when it's spoken of, it turns into an argument. Most things that are loved highly turn into arguments.
Most people who ask about it have never looked up MotoRex, are likely very young, or very rich and stubborn, and have no knowledge of the car whatsoever.
For those that do know, they need to take the time to invest some research into the car of their dreams, and use a little hindsight to figure out what they want or need. Most people do not know that a Nissan Silvia SR20DET can be swapped from an S15, put inside an S14, and provide practically the same performance as a Nissan Skyline BCNR33 GT-R.
The answer to your question is simple...
Too many people who are just dreaming... and who are too lazy to do some solid research.
-- I forgot to mention, the most harsh reality of owning a Skyline GT-R is the pain you feel when you get your insurance bill each month. Even if you've been a great driver, insurance for one of these is off the wall. If most of these kids knew that on an BNR34 you were looking at almost 10,000 in Insurance each year, they would likely go jump off a bridge.

Why not just get a Toyota Supra instead? Cheaper investment, sold in the US market, and just as bad @ss as a GT-R Skyline (I think so, anyway).

It takes less effort to use a search engine than to ask a question on yahoo answers. Who knows why.
I'm the only one so far who mentioned the points....I'll take 'em :)
