R there actually people who prefer driving automatics over manual transmission?(that is of ppl who drive both)?

Question

i always hear ppl preach to everyone about how manuals are so much better and superior to automatic cars, but i never hear ppl who perfer automatics over manuals.  and im referring to ppl who know how to drive both.  i actually perfer autos because i hate always having to be so active when im driving. its ok once in a while, but sometimes i just want to cruise without having to be so active like when in traffic(yes i am lazy-im the type of person who wants a lot of money but not the work that comes along with it

I'm a drag racer. I run an auto trans and love it. 

Not always like that though. In my younger days I thought like rest of the dumb kids  stick is faster. 

I was running a 73 vega with a 6-71 roots blown 327 v8 and a M22 4 speed. You couldnt give me an auto trans at that time... UNTILL 

I broke my trans for the third time and had no money or spare trans for replacement. 

I was gonna miss my points match due to car down, buddy of mine had a spare th-350 auto trans that he helped me install  4 hours before tech.. 

That was years ago, since then I never went back with a stick.  My car launched better, 60 footed better and ran faster.

Definitely. There are those that would just rather drive without having to shift the transmission. People who are into cars will be more biases towards manual transmissions so its arrogant of them to say that everyone should drive manual. It all depends on your personal preference.

I like manual cars, but I actually like it better when pickup trucks are automatics.  They're just not as fun to drive in sticks as small cars are.

I drove a stick for most of my life, but now I'm old and I have bad knees and I own a car with an automatic.

On the other hand, when I get a chance to drive one of those cars with a shiftable autobox, I shift the heck out of it.

I drove standards for something like 15 years and then decided to get an automatic.  I really like it because it's easier to hold a drink while you're driving or hold somebody else's hand, and things like that.  It's just more relaxing and less work to drive.

depends on the situation. if you know what your doing you can usually get better gas in a stick. but when i'm towing or in rush hour i'd rather have the auto.
i learned on stick, and i think everyone should. it makes you more aware as a driver.
