At Disney Hollywood studios,...?

How long in advance do you have to stake out a spot to go into the Fantastic Show? I've heard that you have to wait outside of the show a few hours so as to get a good seat or a seat even at times, how true is that?

its absolutely true. disney suggests you start lining up at least 90 minutes prior to show time. when i lined up 90 minutes prior i got a horrible seat. once i got there 120 minutes prior which is 2 hours of doing nothing and i got an ok seat. to be honest i don't think the show is all that great anyways. i don't know about you but i'd rather be spending my 2 hours going on rides and other attractions at the park rather than standing around for that long doing nothing and being bored.

Starting in Jan 2009, Disney reduced Fantasmic from every night to several times a week. It was full when they showed it every night, so you can imagine what it is like now!

You really need to think hard about going. It is a 20 minute show. It is good-- but, are you willing do devote the amount of time it will take in line and waiting while seated before it starts? For a 9pm show, you should be in line by 7- 7:30.

There is dining package that includes reserved seats to the show. You need to call 90 days in advance at 7am EST to reserve one of those 3 restaurants. And, you will be eating dinner between 3:30- 5. They don't give the dining package the best dining times! If you call 90 days in advance at 7:30 am, you probably won't get one. The dining package guest need to arrive about 75 minutes before the show starts. And, they no longer get their own entrance. They used to. Now, they enter with the rest of the crowd.

I'm not saying don't do Fantsamic; it's a great show. But-- know what seeing it is going to entail.

I was there in February they were not showing the

show every night. It was running three times a week

and they were doing it twice a night. I went on a

week night and the seats were gone a good hour

and a half before the show was to start. (I have

always been able to get a seat up to 30 minutes

before it starts. I would suggest that you go to the

gate 2 hours before show time and see if they are

seating people. Ask the cast member frequently

    about seats.

There really are no bad seats for the show. If you

can sit in the center section go there. You will

be able to see the show from all three sides. It

gives the special effects a 3D effect. This is

    awesome.

If they are still doing the 2 shows a night, go to

the 1st show. It takes forever for them to empty

the theatre and you will be standing forever.

A lot of people got very crabby waiting.

*A cast member told me it is because of the

eonomy & budget cuts that Fantasmic is

not showing every night. It is a big budget

show and they are not filling the parks.

I'd say maybe an hour but that's just judging by the last time I was there, I'm sure it would depend on what the crowds are like on any particular day but I would say show up an hour before... once you get a seat you should be all good I don't think you can pick a bad place to sit. We got there only a few minutes before the last time we went and we were standing at the back and we could still see everything. The alternative to arriving early is going for the diner package info here http://www.studioscentral.com/food/fantasmic.html

There's also info about when to show up etc here

I've never had a bad seat for Fantasmic. We usually get there around an hour before the show starts, grab our seats, and have a snack. We are usually in the middle rows, which are perfectly fine. If you want to get right up close, then you will probably have to get in line 2 hours or so ahead of time. We actually booked a Fantasmic Dinner package our last time. We ate at the Brown Derby and then headed to Fantasmic about 30 minutes before the show started. I believe that we got to go in a separate entrance and got to sit in a roped off area. We had very good seats. Too bad that my son fell asleep during the show... (he was 1 1/2 at the time)

It realy Depends on what day you are going. If you are going Monday-Thursday about 45 minuetes early. If you are going on a weekend then at least and hour and a half early. hope you have fun it is a great show!
