how do i start a home-party business?

i'm looking into starting some kind of home-party business. i need ideas tho. i dont want to do Mary Kay or Avon b/c our area is saturated with those. i also dont want to do Pampered chef or any kind of candle party, for the same reason.

i really need the supplemental income. my job is minimum wage but the hours are really good for me b/c i have a child. my husband tells me i need to do something to add to our income (he says it really nicely tho). b/c he is already planning to take on a second job this summer so we can make enough money to pay off some debts and save up for a down payment on a house.

I did a party plan for almost 2 years. If you've got good supportive friends and family to get you started, that's good. But there are things you need to consider.

You will run out of friends and family. You'll have to get real aggressive to find people to host parties. People will cancel and never reschedule. If you have 30 committed to attend, expect 10 to show.

Look for a plan that pays 40% on retail. Anything less is going to cost too much in the long run because by time you pay for and hand out catalogs, company order forms, pay shipping, product returns, etc... your percentage is actually going to fall to somewhere around 30%.

Look for a plan that does not charge you for your website.

Avoid having an excess of 'inventory'. It's too difficult to second guess what your prospective buyers are going to want and most realize they will need to order.

Despite what some say, I would not invest in an 800 number. Also look for a company that allows you to do credit card processing through them. It can get quite costly to have your own merchant account.

You are going to be told to put up fliers, hand out business cards to everyone you see, attack strangers, etc... that never worked for many of us because the root reason to purchase comes from 'knowing' people who like and trust you.

If you are real aggressive and don't mind pressuring people you know to host parties, you might do ok, but it's a tough way to go for the average person.

    Dear Friend:)

Take a minute, and ask yourself this question.

"Where do I want to be six months from now?"

If your dream is to have multiple streams of automated

income over the Internet, then this course can show

you how to ACTUALLY make that happen (unlike most

courses, which make empty promises that they can't

    deliver on).

If you're ready to start making some real money online

and change your life, read more about this offer at the following page:

and read what have to say Mack Michaels my Mentor.

Maybe you've tried so many ways to make money that all failed,

that you just GAVE UP on the concept of a job-free life.

Or maybe you never even tried at all because you were too afraid.

Well, that's just because you don't have the slightest clue about what REALLY works.

You literally have no excuse to wait any longer. Unless of course,

you're satisfied with your $/hour job and don't want to leave your best-friend Boss behind.

If that's the case, just close this now.

    Good Luck

There is a website directsalescompanies.com that list many. Personally I like consumable it keeps your business going like Tastefully simple who doesn't like to eat and when it's gone they order more.

I wouldn't let saturation scare you people come and go. I have 5 Mary Kay consultants in my development alone and I do very well with my business we all know different people and plus I even pick up people from consultant that stop selling.

I have sold for 10 different direct sales companies so I've seen a lot. Two home party companies that are both pretty new, meaning ground floor opportunity, are Pink Papaya (spa products, skin care, makeup, etc.) and Brown Bag Party. Pink Papaya pays its consultants 35% and has a variety of starter kits available. Brown Bag pays 50% commission, has a variety of starter kits, and sells "adult novelties" and romance products. (Lets face it, sex sells, always has and always will!) You can check out my websites for more info. Good luck!

Ask yourself - what kind of party would you be interested in going to and buying items from. Why not set up your own home party business.

Your local community college probably runs courses on small business planning that woudl help you with all the basics of getting started.

A friend of mine in the U.K. set up a part-time business selling cute baby gifts, and has become so successful that she has now given up her day job to run it full time.
