Why are vegan shoes so flippin' ugly?

Whenever I search for vegan shoes, they're always so goddamn ugly. I swear, they're hideous, like what a homeless hippie would find appealing. What I see are shoes that are designed for teenagers and very young adults, ones with a trendy homemade look, like looking shabby crappy is supposed to be cool. I'm 40 years old, there's NO WAY I'm gonna wear wheat colored hemp ballet slipper with white dots & green stripes on the sides and a rubber toe!

Does anyone know where one can find decent, NORMAL looking vegan shoes?? Anyone?? Anything is much appreciated, thanx.

Update:

I am a vegan, and will never consume or purchase anything coming from an animal, or anything that has been tested by animals. I buy cruelty free, so for those who suggest I eat a cheeseburger and chill, stick it in your ear.

I wear flats, loafers, cute sandals (cute, not homeless looking, lol) and athletic shoes.

    I find cute vegan shoes at Target, Payless and sometimes Old Navy (right now I'm wearing some adorable sandals from Old Navy). Obviously there is a good chance that the glue used in their shoes may not be vegan, but these all have a great selection of cute, inexpensive synthetic shoes. As others have mentioned mooshoes.com, veganchic.com and alternativeoutfitters.com are awesome too. Good Luck!!!!

    I LOVE SHOES! I have a zillion pairs mostly 3-31/2 inch heels or wedges ( I like heels more , but that is what I am comfortable in) and None Hippie. I do have a few low heels and flats as well.

    Some of the firms try to fit into other ethical categories apart from vegan, such as being made in the USA / UK / Europe, and that cuts down the options. Also, vegan shoe shops try to cater for a range of tastes so you have to sift-through the options. One of the UK vegan shoe shops has a page about why it's hard to get shoes made in democratic welfare states.

    Well i bought my shoes at a place here called globe trotter they are for hiking etc without leder etc maybe an outdoor sports store might have good shoes.

    I have never looked for vegan shoes before but you are RIGHT! Alot of them are hideous!

    That said, what kind of shoe's do you wear? What about these sneakers.
