am is for morning and pm stands for night. the am/pm near me closes at 10pm everyday so if i were to get off from work like 12am it would be closed

The initials a.m. stand for ante meridiem, Latin for "before noon." The initials p.m. stand for post meridiem, Latin for "after noon."
