Any one know where I can find a good english vocabulary list for middle school or HS level students?

I am looking for age appropriate material designed for a middle age caucasian man who would like to improve his verbal and written communication skills. Which classics are best for adult learners? What are the standard readings for 10th and 11th grade students?

What on-line resources are recommended by educators, and which are most popular with HS students in need of help with homework? He is interested in geography, geology, american history, government and social studies.

Well if you want a vocabulary list for HS level, buy a SAT book. The verbal's great there. It'll help a lot.

Online sources - the best would be to google a textbook on the subject you're taking. Most textbooks nowadays have online sources, which includes a brief outline and summary, and practice questions, which'll help you.

I'm definite a 10 12 months historic might understand Harry Potter. My older brother did in first grade. It is not that difficult of a e-book to learn if the 10 12 months historic is an avid reader. Yes, there are a couple of phrases in it that maybe tough however does not each e-book have that? I believe the primary 3 books are well for a 10 12 months historic, the final 4 books might be somewhat difficult relying at the studying stage. My little brother does have a couple of issues information a few elements of the final 4, like Harry's emotions for Cho, and he's 10.

There are 7 CDs made by a woman, called Not too Scary Vocabulary (geared for the SAT)

And they define the word, give different ways to remember it, and makes the english vocabulary fun. It's a bit expensive, around $50 but definitely worth the money if it will be used.
