My dog thinks his name is Dodger no-no!?
He is a year old mix breed(with what we don't know, vet doesn't know) He is the most destructive little dog I have ever seen. I am not new to owning dogs I just never had one this hyper. I walk him alot to try expel some of his energy at least 3 1 hr. walks a day. I have been working with him. he does good to a point. I buy him lots of toys even the most indestructible on the market. He will have them in pieces in an about an hour. If i give him a the rawhide bone he will obsess on it till it is destroyed. I have taken him to the vet and haven't got an answer that i liked(she told me that, that is the way he is). He is bannished to the back yard for now. Oh man he even dug under the fence so he could go play with the neighbors dog! If I couldn't find him in the back yard I knew where he was(it has happened several occassions)! I got him fixed because I was told that would calm him down. But of course that didn't work. I am not going to give up on him! What can I do to correct this behavior? Thank You in advance. Any advice is appreciated.
I brought home another puppy for him. So he would have a playmate. And it is helping. But he does destroy anything that crosses his path.

He needs a job. Train him. you might consider doing agility with him. simple walks, even for an hour is not enough for a high energy, intelligent dog. Try hard running, teach him to play fetch, run alongside a bike, tracking, hide & seek, ect. Wear him out.
He sounds like a very intelligent dog that is bored. The good thing is, that dogs like this, when given an energy outlet and mental stimulation make the best dogs.

Hi
Keep working with him. Sounds like your making progress. He may also need more exercise than walks. Playing fetch for instance.
As far as the toys he destroys, quit throwing you $$ away and get him a deer antler to play with. Some pet stores carry them, or you can order on line.
Best of luck,

You should maybe get a little noisemaker or something and attempt to train him to listen to what you say to do after you use something noisy. It could also signal him to come to you. Then again that might make him bark, but at least he might listen a bit better.
You can also give your pet a bit more attention and maybe give him some training, maybe some agility training.
Good Luck (:

Have you considered trying agility or lots of trick training with him? It sounds weird, but sometimes making him think will tire him out mentally and help him calm down. It will also help with obedience. Agility also has the added bonus of being physical.

I think your giving it too much attention. Let it rest and relax.
Your letting him think that he can do amything.
