CITROEN DS ROOF REMOVAL?

Hi there. We have an ordinary 1969 Citroen DS 20 and i would like to know if the roof was designed to be removed. I.e : if i could take it off and leave it in my garage on a nice sunny day and put it back on when needed with no problem at all.

If anyone knows about the Citroen and this query please leave time to answer my question.

    I am sorry to say that you can not take off the roof.

    If your DS is a USA model (made for export to the USA, as opposed to models made for the European market), chances are quite good your roof is constructed of fiberglass. Some European models had aluminum roofs, others were also fiberglass.

    Yes, the roofs of these cars are removable but they weren't really designed to be removed and driven as a cabrio. Roof removal should involve doing something major like renewing the headliner, paint work, replacing rubber seals, etc. With a car 40 years old, I'd be very concerned about how the fiberglass might "flex" and possibly splinter if you got into the habit of removing it during periods of far weather. It's nearly impossible to obtain a replacement roof.

    Source(s): Own a '71 DS21 Pallas. These are landmark cars whose values are rising. Owners ought to carefully preserve and care for these "Goddesses". There are so few of them left.
