454 grams per pound, times 10 lbs, times 9 calories per fat gram = 40860 calories
divided by 35 calories per mile=1167 miles
divided by 30 days = 38.9 miles a day
assuming you don;t eat anything extra
39 miles is 1362 calories
it;s pretty easy to cancel it out with a bowl of ice cream
wle.

It depends on how much you weigh, how fast you go and how far you go. You need to burn 3, 500 calories to lose a lb of fat. If you haven't ridden for a while your body wont burn too many calories. The stronger you get the more calories you can burn.
Lets say you can ride at 12 mph and can burn 35 calories per mile. You have to ride 100 miles to lose a lb of fat and for 10 lbs you need to go 1,000 miles.
You can see why a proper diet is so important. Do you want to ride 3-4 miles to make up for that can of soda or 15 miles for a fast food hamburger.

There are so many variables to consider before you can get your answer. These variables would be-how much do you weigh, type of bike your ride, terrain that you ride on, how many calories do you eat in a day?
I would suggest talking to a trainer at a local fitness center. They will be able to answer your questions and help you set up a fitness program. It is not necessarily how far you ride but what you eat.

If you want to lose 1 pound a day you have to burn 250 calories, and if you want to burn 3 pounds a day you have to burn 500. Go to self.com and there are calculators to enter in how much you weigh and how long you worked out and it'll tell you how many calories you burned.
I'd say bike around 30 minutes a day without going down a lot of hills.

Well
I lost 3 kilos in a month
My husband lost 10
We both rode for 8 hours a day, except for three days.
So it's hard to tell.
Just make the exercise a part of your life, enjoy it, keep it up and the weight loss will come.

i suggest you go talk to a someone at a sports clinic. it's not just how far you ride but how you eat and you train. suggest reading bicycling magazine.com for training tips. using caffeine 1/2hr before a long ride helps but only if you normally drink very lil. fibrous foods will help also.

Music enables you to eat more. According to a survey by the journal Psychology in addition to Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage that you take time over your meal, so you consume more meals. So, switch off – silence can make you more aware of what you’re adding your mouth.

It’s Friday brunch time and you just can’t stop going back for seconds. But hang on! Stop for the minute and suck on an extra strong mint. The flavour will certainly put you off that next plate of chicken korma/roast beef/sushi medley.
