Real property is always going to be taxed. What you can do is see how to claim as many exceptions / deduction on property. It does not devalue home but does decrease the valued amount that you pay.

Go to property tax office & collect as many forms as possible. Some lower tax rates if land is used for agricultural purposes. But you have to actually meet th agricultural criteria. You can't just label it "agricultural."

There are some off-sets for Senior Citizens. Consider selling home to a senior family member (they most likely will have to live on property). Then make sure that property becomes a "one time gift" to you at the death of owner. (To avoid taxes.) OR have a clause that one you b/c Senior Citizen, the house shall be given to you as one time gift for your birthday.

Check all the exceptions & see how many you can get qualified for.

Some also allow deductions for allowing electricity producing windmills to placed upon your land.

You can't avoid paying but you can try to limit taxable amount.

Depending on size of property & zoning laws, you might get a cheap mobile home (it's property value decreases every year) & place a renter on property. Calculated taxes divided by 12 to see if that's a fair monthly rental price. Usually it is plus actually fairer to charge more & thus renter is paying your property taxes while you make a little income yourself.

It doesn't have to be a big mobile home, just a small RV that a single college student would like to rent b/c they are serious about their studies & don't want the noisy college dorm scene.
