Does the President really respond to letters written to him?
I am an 18 year old male and I wanted to write a letter to the president to ask him to visit my school. I know he is busy and he probably won't be able to visit but I would just love a response from him. I was wondering does he write responses himself and how likely am I to get one. I really don't care if he writes them I just want a response from the white house though. Just wondering.

Five a day. Obama responds to. The rest is done by the White House staff.

Write your letter and if it is respectful you will likely get a response from someone at the White House which is still very nice even if not the pres himself. There would have to be, I would imagine some pretty special circumstances for a visit from any president. But it can't hurt to ask the question - you will definitely get nothing if you don't even ask right? Give it a go, what can it hurt?! Welcome to being a capitalist - make the effort, try - no guarantee you won't fail but you stand a much better chance of success with some effort!
You ignore my next remark - your heart is in the right place and I don't mean to insult you in anyway but I can't stand him...
Well we know he responds to a five a day because he says so and is always truthful HAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA if his lips are moving - he is lying!

For several decades, no president has personally responded to letters written to him except for a very few that had been brought to his attention by a member of the White House staff. These letters were either highly important, requiring his personal response or of such a nature that it would make a good public relations showing. The odds are that a staffer would answer your letter.

Yeah, Bush will personally take the time from being the most powerful man in the world to read a letter from some dope in Canada saying he's a really great guy and write a detailed response. Seriously dude. You won't even get a letter from his minions, you'll get a form letter generated by a computer.

You will more than likely not receive a personal response to your letter, but if Obama does as his predecessors have, you will (eventually) receive a standardized response and a photo on white house paper, at least this has been the case in many of the past administrations. hope this helps you should get something, although i haven't done this since Clinton was in office personally.

It's up to the President, of course, but you are very likely to get some kind of response. It probably won't be from the man himself, but it will be very nice and on presidential letterhead.
A relative sent a formal wedding invitation to Nixon and got a very nice response. I'm sure there's a staff dedicated to just this sort of thing.
Be polite, respectful and as formal as possible. Good luck.

He is the messiah remember he can do anything, of course he will not read your letter, he already knows what ur gonna write before you do.

He would not be able to do this. He gets several thousand communications daily.
There is a staff that takes care of this. Every once in a while a unique letter may be pulled and sent to him.

He has an entire public relations office that responds to letters. There's about a 99.99999999% he will not read your letter.
