I used Yahoo Search with this set of characters from your error message:

    0x0000001E (0xc0000005,0xeb4708D3

    And got exactly one result:

    http://forums.speedguide.net/archive/index.php/t-5...

Someone was having problems with a Win 2K computer, he ended up erasing the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system.

Many blue screens are caused by memory errors. The error might be in your RAM modules, or it might be a bad sector on the hard drive, or it might be a file was corrupted. Or the electronics on the hard drive is going bad, or the motherboard interface to the drive is going bad, or the motherboard interface to its memory is going bad. This is always possible on old computers, things just wear out over time, especially electrolytic capacitors.

You can get a program called Memtest86+ to test the memory on the motherboard at

    http://www.memtest.org/

Get the ISO image and burn it to a CD, you can boot with it then and it will run automatically. Running a single pass with 2 GB will take a lonnnnnnnng time.

    obvious first step:

remove the new DVD player and see if this solves the issue.

this looks like the infamous "Blue Screen Of Death" error.

many possible reasons.. most common resolution; reinstall windows.

if you plan to replace a mobo from a win2k computer.. theres no number that will tell you what to get. you will need to replace the entire setup. mobo, ram, and cpu. if your old power supply is an AT style power supply (click on, click off) the whole case will probably need replacing.

in fact; if this win2k computer is all original parts, you might as well just stop now, and buy a brand new system from the ground up.

yes computers are upgradeable, but that only goes so far. if you regularly upgrade, then it's easy to just keep going. if you wait a long (really really really long) time like you seem to have, then by this point -everything- needs an upgrade.
