I learned something this weekend about Talladega I knew the infield was huge but did you know it could actually hold 200 football fields? That just amazes me.
Do you have any Track Trivia from any track you would like to share?

Supposedly from an answer someone gave on Wiki answers a football field is .9 acres (9/10) with just the field. According to their answer if you add the end zones then then a football field would be 1.32 acres. So I guess it is a safe to say that you could fit 200 football fields in the Talladega infield.
Talladega has 212 acres in the infield. Unless the math is wrong Steffy then you are right.

My math is 300 feet x 160 feet = 48000
An acre = 43560
------------
43,560 divided by 48,000 = 0.9075 (or 9/10 of an acre).

Well I've been in that infield, OMG its huge, heck the entire place is huge. Its 212 acres inside the infield. ICE did the math, I think I heard Hammond say something about 200 football fields. Don't even ask me to do the math that was my worse subject in High School and College.

wow! i didn't know that, thanks for the info steffy. i know that talladega was built on an old native american burial ground and In 1973 Bobby Isaac was driving for Bud Moore. On August 12, during the middle of the Talladega 500, Bobby Isaac, was leading the race when he pulled his car off the track and into the pits and quit. He simply pulled in and got out of the car and quit. It was said that he had heard a voice telling him to get out of the car.

200? Thats not possible. Maybe 20. Where did you hear that Stef and how many Bud lights did you drink? Jeff was smoking crack apparently. Unless you stack the fields on top of eachother side by side as high as the banking it's not possible. I just starting doing the algebra and its not even close.

My 2nd Favorite Racetrack - Infineon
The slowest track is the Infineon Raceway, a road course, with an average race speed of only 81 mph (130 km/h).

actually, the oldest driver to win a nascar race at the auto club speedway (used to be the california speedway till this year) is mike skinner in the truck series. he won there last year (2007) at the ripe old age of 49. the year before (2006), mark martin won the truck race at there at age 47. ted musgrave also won there there three times in a row (2001, 2002, and 2003) and was 47 years old for the last win.

They consume 50,000 'Famous Martinsville Hot Dogs' at every race.
I'll provide a link before Ice start's doing the math. LOL

The only thing I have for track trivia is about Texas Motorspeedway and they have stated numerous times in the Dallas Morning News was that you could fit 8(eight) Texas Stadiums inside the track.

Steffy is right about the size of the infield.
Also the Scoring tower is 148 Feet tall and it uses 7,440 light bulbs to display all the positions.

Did you know that Talledega supposedly has a curse and may be haunted as well??
You would have to read this with an open mind but the drivers know all about the stories.
