What is the difference between a myth and tall tale?

A myth is a traditional sacred story and a talltale is a story telling unbelieveable elements.

a myth is more establised in society...like ancient myths (e.g. greek mythology) or urban myths (like your breast implants will explode on flights above a certain atmosphere) They are things that many people all over the world or the country will know and have heard of.

A tall tale involves a smaller group of people - a lie, an exageration of a true even or a made up story a individual will tell those around them. Therefore only people close to the person will have heard of the tall tale.

Tall Tale--A tall tale is a story about a larger-than-life character, either fictional or based on a real person who has exaggerated adventures and performs exaggerated feats of daring, strength, courage, and/or intelligence.

Myth--A myth is a story that attempts to explain something, usually using the beliefs of the people.

A tall tale teaches a lesson. Sometimes a myth scares us.

A myth has potential of having truths in them. Comes out of the past. A tale is a story someone makes up without having any real truths in them. Mostly has allot of lies that skirts the truth. Unless its a tall tale. Then it has allot of BS in it.

a tall tail is like a lie almost or a stretched out story like a little kid would tell you a myth is like people have seen big foot and believe he is real but you cant prove that he is real
