An object is placed in front of a diverging lens

with a focal length of 20.0 cm.

a) Find the image distance for an object

distance of 40.0 cm. Answer in units of cm.

find magnification please??

    p=object distance

    q=image distance

    f=focal length( negative because diverging lens)

    1/p+1/q=1/f

    1/40+1/q=1/-20

    q=-13.3cm

    magnification equation:

    M=-q/p

    =13.3/40

    =.3325
