take it to a different shop.

    or,

whens the last time you got new plugs, new wires, and a new distributor cap?

    air filter?

    oil change and oil filter?

check for a shortin out spark plug wire before ya go and tear into the engine

Are you looking to have the work done by somebody, or are you taking the head off and taking it to a machine shop? If you do all the labor then close to $400 for a Corolla being a 4 cylinder 4 valves per cylinder. That is close to what my dealer pays when we send them out.

It cost about $350 to rebuild a head. Expext close to $150 for a valve job depending on shop.

i'll say not less than 1000. mechanics charge a lot for this kinda of jobs because they have to open the engine. make sure that that is the real problem with your car. you know what? it may also be cheaper to replace the engine. it will be almost as the same price and get an engine with fewer miles than yours. most of the time when you replace something, something else will come out soon after so think about it. specially if your car is kinda old now.

your looking at about 600-800.00 to get this one done, and that's cutting it close to the money on this one, they,ll more than likely be wear on the valve guides in it and they may have to replace few of them, with parts and labor id say you,ll have about 800 in it by the time you get it back, good luck

depending on where you live regular shop time just to remove both heads is at 11 hrs. some shops have book pricing and some have lower hourly rates.
