Would you eat foods that were made on equipment that came into contact with meat/dairy/eggs?
I'm vegan, and yes, I would. No one can control this 100%, so I find it useless to try, 'cause it would only drive me nuts. Why do that?
What about you?
miss nomer: If you want a question asked, ask it yourself. I'm asking this one.

of course i eat it.. i dont wanna be seen as a complete extemist. if i go to bbqs i give my veggie patty and they cook it in the same place, who gives a damn? its not like im actually eating the meat.. i do NOT wanna drive myself crazy over this because the truth is, even in restaurants, it would be hard to find ones that actually cook in separate places and i dont wanna kill myself over worrying
BUT, if i were allergic to something then hell yeah i wouldnt

I understand where you are coming from, no one can be a perfect vegan. Though yes I do take care that my food does not come in contact with meat or dairy when I am preparing it, even if that means using more dishes. As for products like mock meats and bread etc from the grocery store, if it says "may have been in contact with eggs or dairy or meat" I will opt for something that hasn't been in contact with those things.
Quick question though: If a product says it is made in a factory that also produces eggs or dairy does that mean it has come into contact with what you are purchasing?

Eggs and dairy yes,but meat no.I'm not a vegan.Just the thought of my food cross contanimating with meat is repulsive.I don't even like to use the same pots and pans that had meat cooked on them.I'm sure cross contanimation isn't likely and that they have to state "made on shared equipment with fish, etc" for liability reasons because they are common allergens but I still don't like the thought of my food coming incontact with meat.

'm a vegan and I eat things that say 'may contain traces of milk' but never 'may contain traces of shellfish/lamb/any type of meat.'
I think trace amounts of diary is OK for a vegan because then at least we know an animal didn't die to help the production of whatever else is made on the machine, however meat is just wrong.

I try not to because it grosses me out, but I don't think I'm doing a whole lot of damage by eating a veggie burger that was cooked on the same surface as a hamburger. I avoid it if I can help it though.

I use a separate chopping board, but that's just because it's there.
My use of the same oven which has bee used for roast beef doesn't contribute to animal suffering. To refuse to use the same equipment would be like being awkward for the sake of it nd would only hinder myself.
Kudos on putting "miss nomer" in her place.

yes i would. for the same reasons you state. i try not to consume dairy products as much as possible, but its hard to bring a small portion of soy milk with me to put in my coffee when i go out :-)
