I'd say Indians are great cooks. but then I'm an Indian myself. Am I favoring fellow Indians !! Well I don't think so.
India has a very rich culinary and cultural history. Till date dishes in Indian kitchens are prepared from scratch.....grinding spices with other condiments, chopping etc....
Each region has a different cuisine, within India itself you'll find a variety of cuisines and within them different styles and varities.
Take aways, eating out and canned food though now available, is not a choice often made by an Indian family.
Each meal is complete. There are no short cuts. Whole grain breads or rice are freshly prepared. To go with it, we prepare lentils/pulses, veggies, non veg, salad and there is always yogurt on the table. Even are desserts are made using milk or fruits or veggies....sometimes in combination of one or the other.
There are no preservatives added to the food. It is healthy, nutritious and tasty.
Indian food is not just about Naan's, Butter Chicken, Tikka's and Tandoori Chicken....there is a whole lot of mouth watering stuff !!

Good American Chefs!
They can incorporate different cuisines from various nationalities into their cooking!
But, it takes years and years of culinary experience to do that!
