Fight Club Philosophy?

There are two kinds of people in this world. The ones that hate Fight Club and the ones that love Fight Club. I have to say, this book has really opened my eyes in how I see things around me. I can now truly look at things that I have not seen before and overlook the things that I have seen. But my question is, in fight club they are trying to hit rock bottom, truly destroy themselves along with the history. But yet in some parts of the book, they are talking about how to break themselves completely so they can build something better out of themselves. So what were they trying to achieve, self destruction or self improvement?

perhaps the answer they seek, is self improvement from self destruction...you need to hit the bottom before you can truly climb up to the top...

You will find them all in volumes II and III of the Great Books of the Western World, in your library. Studying each chapter and discussing it would give your club the "edge' that other clubs may not have---you would be studying the biggest selling anthology of philosophy in the world, written in short chapters. Unfortunately, each library only has one set of the books because the set is so big.
