Hi! Should I just activate the site for mommies I've been working on?
Hi all! I don't know if anyone remembers, but a few weeks ago, I asked for some feedback, and wrote about how I'd be looking into developing a new site for us mommies. Since then (for the past few weeks), I've been working with a development team on developing a new Site.
The Site is a q&a, debate, forums and has a social component too.
One of my biggest goals is working with the developers to create a moderation section to keep it as troll free as possible.
I was going to wait to get it up until next month. But, I can have it up and running within the next week. I can (maybe with a little help) just moderate it manually until the modifications are ready.
To be honest, I'm a little nervous about the project because it's a big application, and it will cost me a bit. However, I'd feel soo much better if I knew if you might use a site like this. I thought it was a good idea because I really enjoy YA, I enjoy the concept of helping and connecting and having fun, but I don't enjoy the creeps. I'm all for fun and a heated debate, but when people steal baby pictures and attack children, it just sucks the life out of it (<-- my rant!).
Anyhow, if you are interested, please drop me an e-mail (or an answer) - okay? I'd also love to hear any ideas you might have that'll make it better for us all. Especially about keeping it troll free, with that little bit of pizazz still!

By the way, it is a simple script that disallows the 'right mouse click' of images. I think that will be one of the modifications I'll make myself!

The trolls is the biggest aspect of the development. We have a few alternatives. It will never be troll free completely, but with moderation and other features (I won't mention them all!), we should be able to keep it to a minimum.
The site is actually huge. It has:
- questions & answers (with images and video allowed)
- awards
- reporting
- debates
- forums
- a social component (like a simple Facebook)
- and you'll be able to use your OpenID or Ning user info. So if anyone is using one of the new Ning chatrooms, they're registration will work on the new Site.
So, it is actually similar to YA, but with more features. I started the development 2 weeks ago and the infrastructure is in place, my whole list of customizations will take about 4-6 months + all the great ideas we come up with once we start using it!

the cool kids here already have a private parenting forum with about 20 members.
you can only see the posts if youre a registered user and you can only become a registered user after youve been approved by the forum owner. that way theres no trolls.
btw - the right click script is so easy to beat even a kindergartener could. there's a magical little key on your keyboard called PrtSc (print screen) all you have to do it press that and then go into your photo editor and press paste. voila, picture stolen.
i would give you the link to the forum where all the cool moms hang out, but im not sure you are cool enough being a stalker and all.
anyway, i just wanted to give you a heads up that you mightbe better off blocking everyone from theforum until they have been approved so trolls cant bother you. good luck. :)

I would definitely be more interested in a site like yours which is more just for moms than a huge answer community with a lot of sections. Count me in

Great idea, make sure it doesnt cost you money though, I dont think its worth you spending your money. Have a look into the free forums, there are tonnes out there with similar options your talking about. Good work though

Idk if its also possible but i think it'll be a good idea to know who is logged in or online at the time you are.

sounds like a great idea, I'd love to participate :) can't think of any ideas now, as it is 1am here and my brain is dead, but I'll try to and get back to you if I come up with anything genius. lol.
